The CSIR Postgraduate bursary is an opportunity that is made available by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research and the Department of Science & Technology of Southern Africa. It is basically an inter-bursary support grant programme.
The intention for this CSIR postgraduate bursary programme is to provide financial support to full-time students for Honours, Masters and PhD qualifications. Student who receive this bursary must be enrolled in any university within the boarders of South Africa. This opportunity is also open to students who intended furthering their studies towards BTech qualification or their fourth year of studies.
This postgraduate bursary is offered for the following studies:
Composites
Biotechnology studies: biocatalysts, biopharming, bioprocessing
Microsystems technology
Titanium manufacturing
Aerospace
Information and communication technology
Photonics
Modelling and digital sciences
Studies that are undertaken in alignment with all the above-mentioned studies will be given preference as they are regarded as first priority in this bursary scheme
The bursary value is broken down in the following amounts
Honours bursary receives R75 000
Masters bursary will get R100 000 and
PhD bursary will be allocated R130 000
